Chen Hanming | 陳瀚銘 is a Los Angeles-based specialist in Chinese ceramics, with a focus on glaze attribution, kiln-transformation traditions, and collection documentation. He is the grandson of Chen Tso-Tao | 陳佐導 whose lifetime body of work forms the foundation of his research and practice.
Trained in Biomedical Engineering and Industrial & Systems Engineering at the University of Southern California, he brings a systematic and analytical approach to the study of glaze chemistry and ceramic history. He is pursuing classical Chinese literacy to engage with primary sources in the original language — kiln monographs, imperial records, and period inscriptions — and maintains a calligraphic practice rooted in the Qianziwen tradition.
He is a Member of the Oriental Ceramic Society, London, and a Member of the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco.
